The City of Paris

Located in the North-Central area of France, the city of Paris is one of the most important tourist destinations in the world with annual visitors 30,000,000. It is crossed by the Seine River, and with a population of over 12,000,000 inhabitants (including the metropolitan area), is the second most populated city of the European Union after London.

Its economic activity is mainly based on financial and real estate services. They also highlight the production of luxury items, haute couture, perfumes and jewellery.

Its climate is fairly wet, not excessively low temperatures during the winter and between 25 and 30 degrees during the summer.

In its cuisine emphasizes meat, excellent pastries, a variety of cheeses and typical French wines.

The French capital has three airports: Orly airport, Charles De Gaulle, Orly and Beauvais Tille, located at a distance of 15, 23 and 26 kilometers respectively.

Include areas such as the Latin quarter, place full of students due to the proximity of the University of La Sorbonne; the Tuileries garden public park located in the center of the city; the District of painters in the Place du Tertre, busy place for artists who sell their works or made pictures to anyone who wants it; and the theme park Disneyland Resort París, place of must-see, especially for the enjoyment of children, where we can find themed hotels, restaurants, cinemas, and shops.

In the sports section, is worth special mention of the Stade of France, located in the suburb of Saint-Denis. The Final of the World Championship of soccer of the year 1998, between selections of France and Brazil, with a result of 3-0 in favor of the French team was held in this stadium. Similarly held in addition to football, events such as rugby matches or concerts of music among others. It has a capacity of nearly 80,000 spectators.

Museums and monuments to visit in Paris

• The Eiffel Tower with a height of 324 meters: completed in the year 1889, the work was carried out by the engineer Gustave Eiffel.

• Cathedral Notre Dame: Gothic, construida built between 1163 and 1245.

• Arch of Triumph: it is 49 meters high by 45 wide and is located in the Plaza de Charles de Gaulle.

• Palace of Versailles: built by order of Luis XIV.

• Madeleine Church: neoclassical style, it was built in 1806.

• The Louvre Museum: inaugurated on 8 November 1793. It contains collections of the most important works of the world, as for example: La Gioconda by Leonardo da Vinci, or the portrait of Louis XIV of Rigaud.

• Carnavalet Museum: located in the Marais district, tells the story of Paris since its inception to the present day.

• National Palace of the Invalides: Palace where lie the mortal remains of the Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte.

• Musée d'Orsay: realistic and Impressionist Exhibition of paintings by artists such as Gustave Courbet, Claude Monet, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, and Vincent Van Gogh among others.
